This winter has been a struggle, to say the least. I’ve had some personal setbacks and definitely struggled to keep up with this blog. The winter can be especially hard on my emotions and being cooped up in the house does nothing for my creativity. I think God may have heard my suffering because we were blessed enough to have a few days in February impersonate the very best parts of Spring. 70-degree weather and lots of sun! I took full advantage and linked up with my new friend Jonas to snap these. Not only was it great to get outdoors, it was even better to style some original pieces from Good Samaritans. I channeled all my “cool girl” vibes and got some pretty great shots which personify my current laid back and “comfort first” attitude towards clothing.

Progression…

post_tomarra3_112716_02post_tomarra3_112716_06post_tomarra3_112716_05post_tomarra3_112716_03post_tomarra3_112716_04post_tomarra3_112716_01

This shoot was FREEZING! Do not let my smize fool you, the wind blew so hard I ripped my falsies off after the first few shots LOL. But as usual I had a lot of fun with my photographer Bryce! We found some cool wall art in West Philly near the El and let that be our backdrop. This shoot was especially exciting because I was able to wear one of my custom pieces. The jean jacket I have on is the first piece created for Good Samaritans, a clothing collective started by myself and my insanely creative partner in love and life. Our mutual passion for vintage fashion and custom clothing led us to create our own brand. Good Samaritan Clothing Collective is a lifestyle brand that adds a personal touch to new and vintage clothing. All pieces are specially sourced, hand crafted, and one of a kind. Starting this brand was a major progression for me. It takes all that I am to put my creative efforts out into the world. I think we all get a little afraid to share our ideas with others but the world would be far less cool if we did not!

How have you progressed in life so far? Any projects you’re afraid to start?

Reflections…

2016 has been trying to say the least. This new year I hope, as I do every year, to strive to be my very best self. To push forward my mind, push back my insecurities and become a better version of myself with every passing day. 2016 was the year I decided to take this blog more seriously and push my limits in every area of my life. Creating this online space has been one of the greatest challenges. Opening myself up to others in a way I never had before. Simply getting comfortable in front of the camera was something major. It was a striking blow to my natural shyness and a stepping stone along my journey of self-love and reflection. I hope you enjoy these throwbacks as much as I do and as you see how I have changed and progressed I hope that you will be able to reflect on your year with kindness and get excited for what’s to come!

P.S. Let this post also serve as a special thank you to my photographers Catharine and Bryce. These two have not only helped me become more comfortable with myself but have been nothing short of amazing in the work that they do. Their kindness, insight and willingness to listen have been a true blessing!

At Home…

img_6785img_6786img_6787img_6789facetune

The summer is officially a memory and the cooler weather is finally upon us! I wanted to keep things cozy and get a little more personal by showing my space. It has been very rare for me to feel “at home” anywhere. I’ve bounced from coast to coast the past four years (basically every year) and I’ve literally felt homeless at points and very alone. But being back in Philly and feeling like it’s pretty semi permanent, I wanted to really settle in and experience what it means to put down roots.  My current apartment is where these roots will begin to grow and I wanted to make sure its style and energy reflected that. Space and energy is so important to me and I hope that that positive energy and light is reflected in these photos.

Dog Days and Denim…

post_tomarra3_060516_04post_tomarra3_060516_03post_tomarra3_060516_07post_tomarra3_060516_08post_tomarra3_060516_01post_tomarra3_060516_02

The Dog Days of Summer
noun; the hottest period of the year (reckoned in antiquity from the heliacal rising of Sirius, the Dog Star).

I know I’ve said it a million times and you have too, IT”S HOT! Hotter than ever it seems.Every morning I abandon the chill of my conveniently air conditioned 3rd floor walk up and enter what seems to be Mother Nature’s latest interpretation of “hell on earth”. I am immediately caught in the rapture of thick muggy air and blinding sunlight. Because of this, I’ve nearly abandoned makeup. I’ve mostly restricted myself to light natural looks and only on special occasions, like this photoshoot. Yet what I have stubbornly held onto are my jeans. My vintage destroyed denim is a trademark of mine and the heat will not stop my style! I’ve been pairing them with light tanks like this one for balance. I wear an outfit defiantly similar to this one at least twice a week. Tanks and jeans have never forsaken me and I intend on returning the favor. And sure, I toss on some shorts here and there but the jeans are always on my mind and often what I try on before the heat bullies me into bare skin.

What style staple are you sacrificing in this summer’s heat? What are you holding onto?
